TWO RARE GRISAILLE ENAMELLED DISHES
THE PORCELAIN JIAQING PERIOD (1796-1820), THE ENAMELS

Each of the deep dishes is finely enamelled in a painterly style in
the interior, one with a verdant landscape representing spring;
the other with a snowy landscape representing winter. Each bears
an iron-red apocryphal Qianlong seal mark in the interior, and
Dechengzhai marks on the base.

According to Sun Yingzhou, these fine dishes were painted in the
late Qing/early Republic period by the renowned Shanghai painter
Wu Zhongying, copying existing classical paintings and using Jiaqing
period porcelain dishes.
