A BRONZE POMEGRANATE-FORM CENSER
MING DYNASTY, 16TH-17TH CENTURY
The censer is cast in the form of a large pomegranate borne on a gnarled
leafy branch that extends around the sides, with emerging smaller
pomegranates with a bird perched on top. The skin of the fruit is simulated
on one side with a split exposing pomegranate seeds. The cover is cast in
openwork and surmounted by a bird and smaller pomegranates.
