A BROWN-STRIPED GLOBULAR JAR
NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY (AD 960-1127)
The high-shouldered, tapering globular body is decorated in brown
with fve groups of vertical stripes, each group composed of seven
stripes, on an ivory-white ground applied over a white slip that ends
above the foot and at the edge of the unglazed mouth rim exposing
the coarse, buf ware. The interior is covered with a clear glaze.

AN UNUSUAL SMALL DARK BROWN-GLAZED
DOUBLE-GOURD VASE
LATE TANG DYNASTY, 9TH CENTURY
The bottle has an ovoid body and a pair of double-strap handles that fank
a waisted neck below the garlic mouth applied with six bosses around the
mouth rim, all under a glaze of dark brown color that falls in an irregular line
on the lower body exposing the fne light grey body.
