A QINGBAI JAR AND COVER
SOUTHERN SONG DYNASTY (1127-1279)9)
The jar has an ovoid body carved with overlapping pping
rows of petals covered with a pale blue glaze below below
the shoulder and neck applied with the animals of als of
the Four Directions, the green dragon (qinglong), ong),
the red bird (zhuque), the white tiger (baihu), and and
the snake-coiled tortoise (xuanwu), all left in the the
biscuit, as is the pierced center section of the e
square cover that is made in imitation of tiled roofs. d roofs.
The interior of the jar is glazed.
