After using the stomp, you can use it as a tool for adding the more subtle shadows on other parts of the face without laying down tone with a pencil first. This technique works well in the eyelids, shadows in the whites of the eyes, and other small, delicate places. After the skin tones are blended, add a few careful eyelashes with a very sharp charcoal pencil. Add the hairs of the eyebrows after blocking in the general shape of each eyebrow. Rather than drawing every hair, use thick lines to fill in the shape then add a few hairs with a sharp charcoal pencil. Move to the nose and lips in the same way, beginning in the darkest places of each feature, then blending out and softening lines and tone using a stomp or tortillon. Page 23 of 37
