Divide that into 6 or 7 equal portions, and top the body with a final segment of that same length for the head. The adult male is usually about 7 or 8 head lengths tall. Once the length is correct in terms of the head, use those other equally spaced lines to place the rest of the features. Measuring one head length down from the chin will give you a guide line for the nipples. One head length down from that is the navel, one down again is the crotch, one down from that is the guideline for the bottom of the fingertips, then the bottom of the knee, then the middle of the shin, and finally, the floor. If you're drawing a person in a more difficult position than standing, use the same measuring technique, but apply it specifically to what you see. Page 29 of 37
