Morning came damp and wet with 4 guys all raring to go.
I shared my rum shot coffee additive with SOT (sit on top, for his kayak as I could not recall
his name). For me with my arthritis it always stopped long enough for me to get paddling then
the heat of exercise made the pain stay away. And given my lack of alcohol use, it was nice.
The bushes, trees, grass and everything around that was brown seemed to have gone into warp
speed to grow leaves, buds, blossoms and springify the Landing. Spring was in the Air, sort of.
As they loaded up their boats far faster than I, SOT handed me a mini cell phone charger solar
panel. I tried to talk him out of giving it to me but he said it was too slow for him and he had
another one.
I almost cried………
I really needed that charger and I think he knew it. I had told them all my adventures so they
knew I had lost some gear. I hadn’t mentioned the charger but since I charged off one of their
charged batteries, they could put two and two together.
Soon they were off and last ones out was the canoe with a certain unmistakable recognizable
over powering odor that I decided to wait a while before going down wind of them. Like may-
be hours?
Skunks and Pot sure never seemed to be mistaken and there never was a little skunk smell little
definitely had come visit this morning and sprayed the camp, the canoe one gentlemen in par-
ticular, (unlucky fellow).
Or was that Pot?
Yippy Skippy, this was Coffee Potted Landing and someone on that canoe was feeling no
pain.
It should be noted that when kayaking I don’t fault others virtues or vices. The outdoors is the
OUT DOORS and as such some people go OUT DOOORS to bow off steam. Personal Choic-
es and personal consequences are after all personal.
Neither condoning nor judging, I can sit around a campfire and “pass on” rather than “toke in”
which given my extensive medical history, you would think would indulge.
Since I could Stupid all by myself, I found no use for Choking, Smoking, Toking or Joking all
night on some dumb idea you have to be stoned to appreciate.
So I let others indulge and politely stayed UPWIND.
Rain hadn’t started yet so I loaded up and with umbrellas handy headed out and up around the
bend to go find what Mississippi had in store for me, a good hour or more later.
