The day had been sunny but no real warmth was ever there, it just wasn’t cold but now as late
afternoon was coming it was cooler and I could see the sun reaching for the Pines to hide be-
hind. I knew I had to go soon, but like I said, I just couldn’t shut up.
As a gentlemen I met told me he would see me father down the river, I made ready to take both
kayaks back to the launch. Plenty of light left to get back, but I could feel the anti-climatic
drain begin to set in and it would be a good time to paddle.
Going back gave me a chance to see really how fast this part of the lake would be choked with
growth in the water giving it a marsh appearance so prevalent in the spring and summer. Even
though Utah had spring a month earlier, it was obvious with no buds and no real spring green,
that Minnesota wanted to remind me, it was not yet time.
