Gulsvig Landing Sunny/Clouds
X
If Lake Itasca with it’s poignant mountain lakes feeling and setting was perfect for a ceremoni-
al start, the spot I had chose for a restart was anticlimactic. GULSVIG LANDING.
When I scouted out the creek it had in most places barely came over my ankles, not an ideal
way to begin a journey that was supposed to be a mighty river. Some areas were calves but
back to shallow creek bed. Still for those who nay say later, I walked it just in case from Head-
waters to Gulsvig.
Gulsvig was the first place I actually could look at the creek and call it a river, sort of and
some water flowing to give it enough depth I thought I should be fine launching.
But I can say with the mud and dry dead bulrushes, it was a spitting image of Utah Lake and
an area we call Provo Bay where most of the bay was overgrown with bulrushes except a few
channels that acted like river leading through the heavy growth to the lake proper.
Well….Utah lake/Provo Bay marsh was deeper channels……...a lot deeper.
