              High protein meal  interfere transport of levodopa (leucine and
               isoleucine compete with this drug for absorption and transport.

              Taken empty stomach 45 min before meal

        Adverse effects


        LEVODOPA

               E  emesis  stimulate emetic centre


               V  ventricular extrasystole

               D  dyskinesia

        Interactions

              Vit B 12  increase peripheral breakdown of levodopa

        Bromocriptine (D 2 agonist) and pramipexol (D 3 agonist)

        Uses

              Used in early treatment of parkinsonism
