Hand Hygiene & EHS/OHS






        Hand hygiene is the #1 way to prevent healthcare-associated infec-
        tions

        Each employee is responsible for cleaning in and cleaning out each
        time she/he enters and exits a patient’s room or the bathroom.

        Each employee is asked to observe other employees and report on
        proper (or improper) hand hygiene and provide immediate feedback.                           It Starts With Me

         Occupational Health Services at UNC Med Center 984-974-4800

           Contact if you are too ill to determine if you should participate in patient care or be at work.
             (conjunctivitis, diarrhea, vomiting or fever are reasons to stay at home)

           Report all exposures to Employee Health (Mucous membrane and percutaneous)

           Report any needle sticks immediately in a SAFE report and to Occupational/Employee Health
             Services
           See OHS/EHS for work-related injuries, illnesses and exposures including…(slips, trips and falls,
             back, shoulder, cervical and knee injuries, ergonomic issues, Air Quality issues, etc..

           OHS/EHS manages required immunizations, Tuberculosis Screening – new and annual, and An-
             nual Flu vaccines.

           They also manage, for cause drug screens, return to work evaluations, and many other things.
