NUMERACY

Mathematics involves providing children with opportunities to develop and improve their
skills in counting, understanding and using numbers, calculating simple addition and
subtraction problems; and to describe shapes, spaces, and measures. The teaching and
learning of mathematics in our Foundation classes takes place both indoors and outdoors
through a wide range of practical and hands-on activities. For example, children learn
about capacity through sand and water-play activities. They use containers of different
shapes and sizes to measure and compare objects.
