FOUNDATION STAGE
READING LITERACY
“The more you read the more
things you know.
The more that you learn the Dr. Seuss
more places you’ll go.”
Enjoying books and reading stories from a very
early age is crucial in the development of
children. It helps with their ability to understand
words, use their imagination and develop their
speech. Reading supports developing
friendships as they learn to socialise,
rationalise, and begin to show emotions as well
as sympathy for others.
The annual Thirty Day Reading Challenge had
the parents reading to their children and
encouraging them to read as well. The event
culminated in the Character Parade by students
and staff coming dressed as
storybook characters. A day well spent in fanta-
sy land!
