6 PI IN EYE PROCEDURE

How is the Prelex procedure accomplished?

The simplest way to understand this procedure is by looking at the
steps:
1. A person should be comfortable and relaxed during the
procedure
2. A minimally invasive method to reach the natural
dysfunctional lens
3. A mechanism to remove the natural lens through smallest
opening possible
4. Replace the lens with a synthetic biocompatible lens, which
can be placed through the small opening
5. Modulate the response of the eye

The procedure: from tolerating to enjoyable

Vocal and Local Anesthesia is the preferred method for Prelex
procedure. There are no needle or injections in or around the eye.
Anxiety can be allayed with anti-anxiety oral pills or if preferred by the
intravenous administration of sedatives.
Further, to numb the eye, topical drops are instilled on the surface
of the eye and preservative free Lidocaine anesthetic is delivered
inside the eye. The surgeon guides the patient and receives feedback
about discomfort and pain. The ability to express reduces the fear and
makes one comfortable. Background music, relaxed surgeon and staff
who are attentive can make it like a walk in the park.
