FIRST TECHNOLOGY
STUDENTS

In 2016, Shepherds College launched a third specialty major –
technology. This new program had been discussed and planned
for years and, amongst current and prospective students,
there was a great deal of interest in technology. A program
was designed around four tracks of training which include:
professional office, web development, IT maintenance and repair,

and mass media production. The first cohort of tech students
consisted of four Shepherds College graduates who had each
already graduated with a certificate of completion from one of
our other programs. One of these first four technology students,
Torrey Ryan, became the first Shepherds College alumnus to be
hired to serve as member of the instructional team. Torrey is the
graduate assistant for the technology program and, in that role,
he provides individualized support to our tech students.

FIRST GRADUATES

June 11, 2011 was the inaugural Shepherds College
commencement as we celebrated the achievements of five
members of our first class. The day included caps and gowns,
tears and cheers, and feelings of accomplishment that these
students had never previously realized. Later that month, the
Wisconsin State Senate adjourned in honor of the Shepherds
College class of 2011. We recognize and honor this first
graduating class by having five graduation caps on the back of
our commencement programs each year. These first students and
first graduates will always hold a special place in the history and
development of Shepherds College.
