26. Estimation of Sediments
SCOPE
Applicable to testing of all vegetable fats and oils & acid
oil.
OBJECTIVE
This method determines dirt , meal and other
foreign substances(sediment) insoluble in Soya
crude oil.
APPARATUS
FCentrifuge machine with 2700-3000 rpm
FCentrifuge tube cap.15 ml.
PROCEDURE
FPut well mixed 10 ml oil in centrifuge tube.
FCentrifuge for 20 minutes at 2700-3000 rpm &
observe sediments volumetrically.
CALCULATION
Volume of Sediment
Sediments % = ---------------------------------- x 100
Volume of oil
