9. Estimation of Calcium

SCOPE
To estimate the calcium in feed and feed stuffs

PRINCIPLE
The calcium in the sample is precipitated as calcium
oxalate using ammonium oxalate in acid medium. The
precipitated calcium oxalate is filtered out, wash with
ammonium hydroxide to free ammonium oxalate from

precipitated and dissolved in hot sulphuric acid and the
liberated oxalic acid is estimated by permanganometric
titration.
