PEWANI SE-MALAYSIA VOLLEYBALL GAME AT UiTM KEDAH 31

ast year, 2016 was indeed an eventful year for the Ladies’ Staff Volleyball Team of UiTM Sarawak. The team featured for the
fourth time this year after competing in Sukan Muhibbah held at UiTM Sarawak, Borneo Friendship Games held at UMS
L(Sabah) and Intercampus Volleyball Competition (KARiSTA) held at UiTM Perak. The volleyball team was led by Ezan bt Kamri
(Team Manager), Associate Professor Dr. Sandra Sim Phek Lin (Coach and Captain) and the team members comprised Rasmini bt.
Kasmin, Napsiah bt. Putit, Zainon bt. Hj. Bibi, Nurul Huda, Asfalaila, Suhaida bt. Halamy and Kadariah bt. Hj. Yassin.

The ladies’ staff volleyball team had trained tirelessly everyday since September 2016 in preparation for the Pewani Se-Malaysia
Games held at UiTM Kedah. The training sessions were carried out in the afternoon after working hours and during rainy days,
the team rented an indoor court for their training. In addition to their training sessions, they also played three friendly matches
with CVS team as well as one friendly match with UiTM student volleyball players. In the Group Match, the UiTM Sarawak Ladies’
Volleyball Team was the First Runner-up, winning against Terengganu, but losing to Perlis. In the semi-final match, UiTM Sarawak
Ladies’ Volleyball Team easily won the match against Kedah. Although the UiTM Sarawak Ladies’ Volleyball Team couldn’t defend
the championship title after being the champion twice, the Sarawak team gave Perlis team a good run in the final match. UiTM
Sarawak initially led the first half of the match but after a close fight in the scorching heat of the sun during the second half of the
match, UiTM Sarawak lost narrowly to Perlis with a score of 29-31.

Nevertheless, all the volleyball players would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the support from the Rector of UiTM
Sarawak, Professor Dato Dr. Jamil Hj. Hamali, the Deputy President of PEWANI UiTM Sarawak, Madam Nur Afeqah Abdullah and
PEWANI Committee Members. In addition, the volleyball players were grateful for the cheers and motivation from the supporters
for them during the matches. Special thanks is also accorded to Mr. Mulliyono Piang who provided valuable advice and motivation
for the team from far, as well as Mr. Mohamad Isa bin Edi Wahab for being with the ladies volleyball team every afternoon
during their volleyball training sessions and for his patience in teaching the distinctive dance steps for the three-minute dance
performance. His uniquely choreographed dance that featured the unity of the multi-racial community in Malaysia was fruitful as
UiTM Sarawak Contingent emerged as the Champion for the dance performance which captured the hearts of the Vice Chancellor
of UiTM, Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Hassan Said, all the athletes from different states and all those who were present during
the opening ceremony of the event.

Amazing Race: Sehari Bersama Pelajar SK Mata Parang

ada 5 November 2016, sekumpulan mahasiswa BM242 diketuai oleh Dr. Ellen Chung telah mengadakan program “Amazing
Race: Sehari Bersama Pelajar SK Mata Parang”, bertempat di Universiti Teknologi MARA, Kampus Samarahan 1. Para peserta
PAmazing Race yang terdiri dari empat orang satu kumpulan, telah dikehendaki untuk menyelesaikan pelbagai aktiviti di
samping membawa sebiji belon sebagai amanah kumpulan. Enam aktiviti tersebut adalah: “Fun Maths, Tongue Twister, Happy Seed
Pot, Lost and Found, Spelling Bee” dan “Mix it up!” Setiap aktiviti yang dijalankan berpandu kepada 5 mata pelajaran iaitu Bahasa
Malaysia, Bahasa Inggeris, Matematik, Sains dan Pendidikan Seni. Pemilihan lokasi aktiviti yang berbeza dapat memastikan
para peserta dapat menerokai persekitaran UiTM Kampus Samarahan 1. Kumpulan yang berjaya menyelesaikan setiap aktiviti
dalam masa yang terpantas akan dikira sebagai pemenang. Namun, hukuman penalti juga telah diberikan kepada kumpulan
yang memecah amanah yang telah diberikan. Perlumbaan Amazing Race tersebut telah dimenangi oleh Kumpulan 1: Razi, Maria,
Waheeda dan Tracy dengan masa yang terpantas (1 jam 5 minit) untuk menyelesaikan semua aktiviti.
