“For the First Time, Emerging Markets Are Deploying
More Renewables Than Developed Nations. (BNEF)
Accordingly to the Climatescope report published by BNEF, “the 58 emerging-market
economies aggregated in the [...] report set a record for clean energy deployed in 2015
with 70 gigawatts built, compared to the 59 gigawatts of clean power deployed in the
35 wealthier OECD countries.“
African‘s TOP 10, out of the developing &
emerging nations
leading the renewables wave
In the Middle East & Africa, renewables enjoy
an eightfold increase over the next 25 years to
reach 55% of all power generating capacity by
2040, up from 16% today.
Solar and wind see 646 GW, or around 60%, of
total additions, the bulk of which is utility-
scale solar PV. This is already emerging as a
competitive alternative to gas-fired power and
becomes the least-cost option universally by
2025.
