gogoro, the Smartscooter has conquered a
marketshare of more than 20% of Taipei‘s
scooter market soon after its introduction.
It has also reached European metropolises
such as Berlin or Paris via scooter sharing
businesses.
gogoro has succesfully brought the idea of
battery swapping to market. However, this
system is designed as a proprietary solution
preventing market exploration beyond its
own scooters.
Consequently, other battery swapping
systems, such as GreenPack have been born gogoro, the Smartscooter
anticipating an open hardware architecture.
The widely spread of such systems though with battery swap
cannot yet been recognized.
The introduction of a “battery swap“-like
system which also suits other types of EV
such as cars, vans, trucks and busses might
be the next step towards an EV
infrastructure which reaches the volume
markets‘ acceptance.
