Total Cost of Ownership
Just recently, a German automobile magazin
compared a traditional Volkswagen Golf with
A comparision: VW Golf combustion engine with the fully-electric e-
Golf, mainly focussing on the Total Cost of
(traditional Golf vs. e-Golf)
Ownership, assuming a 4-years ownership
running 15.000 kilometers per year.
Considering the current German subsidies at
time of purchase and tax payments, the
calculated TOC / kilometer was € 0.40 for the
e-Golf and € 0.43 for the traditional Golf
(source: autobild.de - June 2017).
Marketshare (fully) EV If one compares the reach of EV within
selected European countries, one cannot not
(yet) recognise a clear tendency towards
in selected European countries electric vehicles across all European nations.
Looking at the TCO-comparison above, the
reasons cannot be found within the aspect of
TCO alone - the timeframe looked at in
Germany was while the subsidies for EV were
granted by the German government. Still, the
market share did not reach more than 0.3 %.
