The Revolution of Imam Hussein
Second Chapter
Causes of the Revolution
After the message of Islam spread in the Arab world and
became a formidable power, the tribes of Quraish and
in particular the Umayyads who considered themselves
the holders of power were defeated. The Umayyads were
compelled to put their arms and to surrender to Islam
following the fall of Mecca (8A.H/630), which was the
trade centre, the richest and most powerful city of Arabia.
Prophet Muhammad (p) had to put an end to injustice
which spread over the land by the clans of Quraish and
other tribes. He instilled the notion that all human beings
were equal from the point of view of humanity, unless
one proved himself better in human duties than the
others.
