Traditional Language
The Ngaju language, also known as Biaju, is a language in the Barito Raya (Southwest
Barito) language family spoken by the Ngaju tribe originating from the Kapuas, Kahayan,
Katingan, and Mentaya watersheds in Central Kalimantan Province. The number of speakers of
this language reaches more than 1,000,000 people. There are dialect differences between the sub-
ethnics that exist in the Ngaju Dayak tribe such as between users of the Kapuas / Kahayan dialect,
katingan with Bakumpai, Seruyan, Mendawai and Mengkatip. These differences are generally in
the choice of words but have the same meaning, but are generally easy to understand.
The Arts of Dayak Dribes
The Dayak tribe also has a tradition of dancing which is used in various traditional rituals.
