1.Batak lacquer

Batak lacqueris an old book whose contents describe the condition of the Batak people in
ancient times. This book is written in Batak script. The existence of this book is currently in the
Dutch museum. The contents of this book include the following:

2. Tungkot Malehat

These sticks are of two kinds: the larger sample (singular panaluan) carved from a single
piece of wood and the smaller combination stick (tungkot malehat) by separately making the
finials. The brass number seen here is originally the final tungkot malehat.

This symbol represents a subject who may be in a trance.

This, along with the surviving cylindrical vessel beside the figure, which may represent a
vessel for magical materials, this occult depicts the datu during a ritual performance. The interior
of the hollow figure is filled with resinous material, visible through the holes in the head and chest
ornaments. It is a magical ingredient, which increases magical powers.
