3. Sigale-gale
Sigale-galeis the name of a wooden doll that can be moved to dance. This doll is commonly
found on Samosir Island, Lake Toba, North Sumatra. The shape is unique with traditional Batak
clothes attached to the body.
That said, this Gale-gale is the son of a noble or let's say the King on Samosir Island. But
then he died and his parents were not willing to let his son go. So to entertain themselves, they
made a replica of their child. The wooden doll was made in such a way that it could be moved
from behind by someone. This movement occurs because the arms and head are connected by
hidden ropes. It is said that in ancient times the number of ropes that moved the Gale-gale was
equal to the number of veins in the human hand.
4. Pustaha Mantra
This Pustaha contains manuscripts of Pustaha Mantras and medicinal concoctions,
inscribed with Ancient Batak letters, on the surface of the Bone, in which the Batak script spells
for medicine and hadatuon (shaman) spells are recorded.
