By-Laws that will be voted on by the members in attendance at
the 2018 TPA Annual Training Conference Annual Business

Meeting on June 6, 2018.








CONSTITUTION and BY-LAWS

of the

Texas Police Association






ARTICLE I

NAME AND OBJECTIVE


Section 1 This organization shall be known as the TEXAS POLICE ASSOCIATION.


Section 2 The objective of the Texas Police Association shall be:
To promote the progress of police service in the State of Texas in every manner consistent with the
best interests of the State of Texas.
To promote the professionalization of police service through the adoption of a Code and Canons of
Police Ethics, the building of a body of professional knowledge, and the training of police at opera-
tional, supervisory, and administrative levels to the end that police service in Texas shall become a
highly respected profession and make its maximum contribution to the preservation of order in the
State and Country by protecting the lives, property, rights, and privileges of all citizens and visitors.
To promote the highest standards of police conduct and performance.
To unite the police officers of Texas to the end that they may exert an effective influence in the pro-
motion of plans and programs designed to improve the quality of police service and the welfare of
police officers in any and all ways compatible with the best interest of the State of Texas.


The Purpose of the Texas Police Association exists to make Texas Communities safer
and more economically viable.
