Enrollment Findings for Cherokee Trail
⊲ Cherokee Trail is our fastest growing high school with enrollment currently
projected at 2,930 students in 2016.
⊲ Voter-approved addition (2012 Bond) increased building capacity to 2,780
students.
⊲ Enrollment will grow to exceed building capacity in 2016.
⊲ Significant growth will continue beyond 2020.
⊲ Projections show growth to reach 1,100+ students over capacity in 2020.
⊲ 1,100 students beyond capacity is not enough to build a new high school.
⊲ Enrollment can be managed utilizing mobile classrooms, liberalized school of
choice practices, and possible boundary adjustments.
⊲ The LRFPC will consider the need for a new high school or another high school
addition in a future bond.
Recommendation:
The LRFPC recommends not building a new high school at this time, resulting in
