Schedules
Schedules
Creating templates and lists for projects is traditionally a complicated task that requires counting
whenever something changes. This information helps to create an overview of the project and
helps to ensure the right choices, in relation to the builder's requirements and expectations
Building Information Models are, as mentioned before, databases that can be considered in
different ways. One way of looking at them is through schemas, in Revit called Schedules,
which show elements in rows and columns. A Schedule updates automatically and all the time,
while building the building model. Schedules can be used for information while being modeled,
but also downloaded to Sheets as documentation or exported to, for example, a spreadsheet.
Definition of schedules
A Schedule is formatted based on the criteria the user sets up. The information is retrieved from
Properties on the model's items. Each Property Value is retrieved into a defined field in a
Schedule. A Schedule can display all inserted items in rows or accumulate / group them and
display information about number, volume, etc. in a single row.
Types of schedules
Five basic types of Schedules can be created
using the "Schedules" tool from Ribbon Tab
View. The five types are:
Schedule/Quantities
Material Takeoff
Sheet List
Note Block
View List
NOTE:
Schedules can also be created by right-clicking the Schedule / Quantities tab in Project Browser
and selecting the appropriate type as shown above.
