                      Recommendations for Continual Improvement

                      •  Access and Equity Policy. Develop an access and equity policy that includes a method by which potential
                          visitors can make requests for needed accommodations and be responded to in a timely manner. Even
                          when the accommodation cannot be fulfilled, the act of receiving and responding to requests indicates

                                                                                                                                                             •   Partner with a nonprofit to increase awareness of their mission. Organizers should provide visitors
                                                                                                                                                                  with the opportunity to learn about the mission of local nonprofits, and where possible engage with
                                                                                                                                                                  the organization itself. 5.4

                                                                                                                                                                  Examples of ways to engage with nonprofits include:
                                                                                                                                                                       •   Free booth space on site or near the event

                                                                                                                                                                       •   Access to public service announcements and/or commentary; nonprofit can provide talking points
                                                                                                                                                                            and working with the communications/media coordinator to integrate them

                                                                                                                                                                       •   Include nonprofit mission in the event press kit

                                                                                                                                                             •   Create a role within the LOC with the authority to activate on legacy projects specifically. 5.6


                                                                                                                                                                        •   One objective of the legacy project had been to transport students from neighboring counties to
                                                                                                                                                                             the event after engaging them with the tree planting project, using attendance at the event as a
                                                                                                                                                                             celebration of their work. This did not come to fruition due to lack of both time and capacity on
                                                                                                                                                                             the part of LOC members, who were busy with other logistical priorities of producing the event.


                                                                                                                                                                        •   The Ministry of Education took responsibility for transporting students to and from the events,
