In 1999, the local sponsor Mindu
Tshering and Tshampa Leki
approached Jadrel Sangay Dorji
Rinpoche at Bay Langdrak, and sought
his divination on building the abode
for the deity. Rinpoche was pleased
with the plan and directed the
construction of the abode. The
construction work began in the year
2000 and it was completed in 2002.
His Eminence Jadrel Sangay Dorji
Rinpoche consecrated the abode upon
its completion. Rinpoche named the
abode Dued Pung Zilnoenling.
The routine rituals and offering for the deity are currently performed on a daily basis by
the monks at the monastery. The elementary school was started after building the hostel,
dinning and class rooms. Monks completing elementary class will be transferred to Busa
Wangdue Goenpa Buddhist college to continue their higher education.
The local guardian deity Drakma Pelzang is a powerful birth god and the main deity who
has continuously supported the well-being, growth and prosperity of the community, and
the spread of Buddhist drama in the region. Everyone who is born in that locality are his
followers. Any one passing by drops by at the monastery and the deity blessings makes
them prosperous and successful in career lobs and promotions and business.
With more beliefs and support to the birth god, the community of Rukubji have
incorporated Buddhist practices in their every day-to-day norm and have become more
prosperous, religious, stopped working on important Buddhist dates and have stopped
meat affairs during any Buddhist puja, offering or prayers as per their internal endorsed
community norms.
