ELDER LINE









         Aim




        Ÿ To provide a national telephone help-line service for older people and their care-givers,
           families and friends
        Ÿ To provide a referral system to other national and local sources of information, advice, and
           help
        Ÿ To develop and support a network of local advice services for older people, their care-
           givers, families and friends
        Ÿ To develop and distribute a range of information materials for older people




        Strategic              Objectives


        Ÿ To create a shared understanding and commitment to the development of information for
           older people from the major organizations involved in the field throughout Ernakulam
        Ÿ To provide consistently high quality information to older people throughout Ernakulam from
           the Elder line service for Older People;
        Ÿ To develop networks, signposting and referrals processes undertaken by the help-line and
           by other organizations for older people in Ernakulam;
        Ÿ To improve the standard of information and advice given by older people's organizations
           throughout Ernakulam;
        Ÿ To establish resources for older people and older people's organizations to support them in
           information and advice giving;
        Ÿ To develop information for older people through new and innovative working relationships
           between Government and other organizations throughout Ernakulam; and
        Ÿ To  respond  to  the  experience  of  older  people  and  develop  services  in  line  with  their
           expectation and needs.

        Ÿ Started a telephone help-line service for older people and their care givers, families and
           friends elder line  04842707023.
        Ÿ A manual for   referral system to other national and local sources of information, advice,
           and help is developed and a full time committed call manger is appointed for  addressing
           the need.
        Ÿ Developed  a support  network of local advice services initially in  maradu municipality,
           about 33 support groups are formed  and in each group 6 to  8 members are present  for
           older people, their care givers, families and friends.
        Ÿ A range of information materials for older people develop and distributed.
