Work integrated learning experience 1

During my first experience this year I have realized that there are many factors that contribute to the
learner’s education. This factor can make learning and teaching easier or harder for both the learner and

the teacher. The school that I was doing my practical at is in town, the first factor which is the location of
the school. Learners are exposed to lot of things in the Johannesburg CBD such as crime and drug usage

in the streets. As a result, some of the learners have already developed a habit of doing such acts and

that affects their education more. Another major thing that I have learnt was that some of the teachers in
the school are not qualified to teach and as a result learner are victims of failing their subjects. Some of

the schools in town are private schools and as a result they do not get much government inspection so

they save money by hiring anyone ho they think can possibly do the work. All the above facts are hindering
with the learner’s progress to learn and they end up showing them that education is not important because

the school is not endorsing proper education on them. Communities should ensure that the schools that
they are sending their learners to are properly equipped to teach their kids.
