UNDERSTANDING THE WORD
                   o  Discuss families – who are in them, ages, things they like to do – Children to draw family.
                   o  Discuss important events in their lives – birthdays, Christmas, birth of siblings, holidays.
       Star fillers   o  Talk about hobbies and things they like to do, draw picture to show their hobbies.
                   o  Pair students up ask them to interview each other and feed back to group about their
                       partner.
                   o  Talk about where they have been and what the similarities and differences between that
                       place and where they live.

               COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE
                   o  Read a story and ask the students questions about it: what do you think will happen next?
                   o  Where is the story set? Do you like the story? Who is your favourite character?
                   o  In a small group discuss an event with them: birthdays, Christmas, holidays, favourite
                       things, family and encourage turn taking, questioning and listening.
                   o  Play Simon Says

               PSED
                   o  Circle time on a variety of different topics – I feel happy/sad/angry/scared when…
                   o  Give students a selection of activities where team work is required.
                   o  Students create a picture/building on a theme/topic relating to their topic in small

                       groups.

               PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
                   o  Think about ways to keep healthy.
      Star fillers   o  Sort food into healthy/unhealthy foods.
                   o  Discuss washing – why do we need to wash?
                   o  Selection of outdoor activities to encourage balance and co-ordination.
                   o  Practice pencil grip.
                   o  Cutting out shapes and gluing onto paper, colouring and labelling.
                   o  Throwing and catching an object.
                   o  Create an obstacle course to encourage a variety of different skills and movements –
                       balancing, crawling, jumping, skipping, hopping etc

               EXPRESSIVE ART AND DESIGN
                   o  Sing a selection of songs/rhymes.
                   o  Have a selection of musical instruments ask groups to make some music to go with a song.
                   o  Rub leaves/trees and talk about the patterns.
                   o  Move like certain animals.
                   o  Move to different types of music.
