               Re-scheduling appointments

Park: May I speak to Mr. Mark, Managing Director, please?
Mark: This is Mark of Athena International Inc. speaking. Who is this, please?

Park: Mark, this is Mr. Park of Universal in Seoul. How do you do?
Mark: Oh, Mr. Mark. I’m good. Thanks! I hope you’re fine. Oh, when did you arrive in New York,
Mr. Park? I didn’t even know that you were planning to come here. I hope you had a good
                  trip.

Park: I just got in two hours ago. This trip is kind of unplanned. Some new developments came up
and here I am now. If you are not too busy can I see you this afternoon? We have a new business
proposal. We’re excited about it, and we’re first approaching our current business partners
before we offer the proposal to potential clients.
Mark: Well, that sounds interesting, Mr. Park. However, I am all booked up today with one of my
major clients. It’s too late to cancel with this previous appointment. I’ve had this planned for
weeks. How about tomorrow? I am free all morning and I can call you around 10:00, so we can
                  settle our negotiation.

Park: Tomorrow’s just fine. I’ll wait for your call at 10 am and then we can settle the place where
we can meet. I fully understand your situation. Thanks for accommodating my request.

               1. What are your common reasons for re-scheduling appointments?

                  Sample answer:
In the rare occasions that I have re-scheduled my appointments, it was usually because my
meeting prior to that has unexpectedly extended. It was something I couldn’t control because
both my business partner and I couldn’t put off our discussion for another appointment. The
most practical thing to do was to re-schedule my other appointment.

               2. Do you find re-scheduling appointments easy or inconvenient?

                  Sample answer:
I find it inconvenient because for me, it’s like an unfinished task. I’m the type of person who
doesn’t get to rest until all tasks are accomplished. I want things to be accomplished on the
                  originally scheduled date.

               3. How do you politely ask to reschedule an appointment?
