               Do business

Edward: What time shall we make it? We are looking forward to this new venture. Everything is set.
We made sure that everything is well taken care of for our deal.
Shin: Well, how about 10 am? I hope you’re free at that time. It’s good to talk business in the morn-
ing. I’ll pick you up around that time at the coffee shop of your hotel. Is that a good place? Then,
we can proceed to my office. The files are there and we can always have access to the internet
and do some teleconferencing when needed.
Edward: All right, 10 am would be fine with me. Anyway, thank you very much for your thorough
presentation, Mr. Shin. I think that’s the main reason why we’ll be talking business tomorrow. If
not for that talk, then perhaps we would be dealing with a different company.
Shin: Don’t mention it. We’re all anxious to do business with you, especially at this important time
when we’re extending our urgent business activities in your country. We think that you are the
perfect partner for the plan that we have. Incidentally, how long are you going to be in Seoul?
Edward: Just a few days. I’ll probably go back to New York next weekend. However, all that may
change depending on our preparations for this new deal. We are prioritizing this project, so I
think I won’t be able to leave until everything is set. So, see you tomorrow.

               1. How do you begin a business venture with a partner?

                  Sample answer:
I usually begin any possible business project by setting a meeting with my business partner.
After we discuss our plans and set our goals, we then form a team that will concentrate on
meeting our targets. We set another meeting to brief the team about how it can go about the
project. We then provide all the necessary investment and materials that the team will need.
We then let our staff do the work. My business partner and I usually check the progress of the
                  work from time to time.

               2. What is your philosophy in doing business?

                  Sample answer:
I am not a risk-taker, so I always check the feasibility of any business. My business mantra is, “If
you ain’t sure, don’t do it.”

               3. How do you make sure that you have an ever-growing business?

                  Sample answer:
