ATHLETE LANGUISH
There was a time not so long ago that the belief in an athlete resting long periods after a long
competition season would benefit them. Athletes, athletic trainers, and strength coaches and
others in the chain of the athlete's health would believe this method of complete rest for
complete recovery. Long periods of rest were valid in the matter of injury and rehabilitation,
lifting weights and running recovery, recovery from the toll of competing, and all it inflicts on
the body—long periods of resting allowed athletes' bodies to feel stress-free and recovered.
Athletic trainers during mild injuries allowed time to dictate the pace of rehabilitation, while
