BR-12 Brake system – service brake (air pressure)
Check on car
1. Check on brake system's inflation performance
a. Start the engine and keep it run at medium speed.
Caution
After the engine is started, keep the engine run for
three to five minutes at idle speed. When the engine
instruments are normal, depress the accelerator pedal.
b. Keep the engine run for five minutes at medium speed.
Then, check the reading on the air pressure gauge. The
pointer of the air pressure gauge should be above 600kPa.
If the air pressure value is lower than the standard range within
five minutes, it is indicated that the brake system's inflation
performance does not comply with the specified requirement.
In this case, check the air compressor and braking circuits. If
necessary, repair or change any faulty part.
2. Check on brake system's sealing performance
a. Shut down the engine at the rated working air pressure.
b. Carry out five full braking operations and check the air pressure gauge reading.
If the air pressure value is lower than the standard range within five minutes, it is indicated that the brake
system's sealing performance does not comply with the specified requirement. In this case, check the braking
circuit. If necessary, repair or change it.
c. Depress and hold the brake pedal for five minutes and check the reading drop on the air pressure gauge.
If there is a slow reading drop rather than any obvious reading drop on the air pressure gauge, it is indicated
that the brake system's sealing performance does not comply with the specified requirement. In this case,
check the braking circuit. If necessary, repair or change it.
3. Check on brake pedal height
a. Check the vertical distance from the brake pedal to the
floor.
4. Check the free travel of the brake pedal.
a. Gently depress the brake pedal until you feel a
resistance, and check the free travel of the brake pedal.
Standard value: 12~18mm.
