EL - 136 Electrical system – electrical components

1. Considerations (refer to “Chapter EL Electrical System - Electrical components- Vehicle Control
DI System, Considerations”)
2. Disconnect the cable of battery negative pole

EG 3. Remove the steering wheel assembly (refer to “Chapter ST Steering System- Steering Mechanism-
Steering wheel, Check and repair ”)

4. Remove the combination switch assembly (refer to “Chapter ST Steering System- Steering
TR
Mechanism- combination switch, Check and repair”)

5. Remove the ignition switch assembly

a. Disconnect the ignition switch connector.

b. Remove the ignition switch fixing bolts.

c. Remove the ignition switch assembly.

Caution
EL
The fixing bolt of ignition lock is for one-time use. New

bolt shall be used when re-installing the ignition lock.

6. Check the ignition switch assembly if following failures are present. If yes, repair or adjust or replace
ignition switch assembly

a. Ignition switch assembly is loose.
b. Shortcircuit occurs inside the ignition switch.

c. The ignition switch harness fails.
d. Poor electrical contact exists inside the ignition switch.
e. Open circuits exists at the ignition switch harness.
7. Installing the ignition switch assembly

a. Put the ignition switch into place.
b. Mount and tighten the fixing bolts for the ignition switch
assembly.
