           ECT SENSOR
           HOW IT WORKS

The coolant temperature sensor, a variable resistor
sensor, used to measure the temperature of the
engine coolant. ECM provides the 5V power to the
coolant temperature signal circuit. ECM monitors
voltage changes due to sensor resistance changes
to determine coolant temperature. With the engine
coolant temperature, ECM is used for cold starting,
target idle speed calculation, correction of injection
advance angle and maximum power protection. It
is also used for engine protection system and
                                                      emission control.
