Therefore, let each one of us be encouraged to quickly uproot the
baseless hatred and Lashon Hara among us and then, necessarily,
the King will immediately return to His home. Every one of us
who rushes to correct this matter will earn a very great merit.
Therefore, my brothers and friends, let us fulfill (the prophecy
of) what is written at the end of Sefer Malachi (3:16) “Then
those who fear Hashem spoke to one another (to encourage each .
other)” meaning, to correct what we have continued to ruin up
until now, and to be careful (to avoid this sin) now and in the
 future.

 The most important thing to do is to arouse Gd fearing people, אָתיִא אלֲֹה .
so that each one of them will see to it to arouse their friends and
 acquaintances, to publicize the enormity of this esur. Because ?'
 of the force of habit, the topic of Shemirat HaLashon (the laws ךְ ָּכ רַחַאְו ,ה ָּלִח ְּת םִיַמָשׁ תוּכְלַמ לֹע ויָלָע ל ֵּבקְַּיֶשׁ ידֵ ְּכ )א ָּלֶא(
associated with the esur of Lashon Hara and the esur of Rechilut)
 has been relegated to the status of (merely) good behavior (and :ךְ ָּכ רַחַא םיִמְּיַסְמ וּנָא הֶז יֵנ ְּפִמוּ .
not obligatory; and the fact that these are the laws of the Torah 'וּכְו םידִָמֱחֶנְו םיִמָּיקְַו םיִיָח וירָָבדְוּ 'וּכְו ןוֹכָנְו בי ִּצַיְו תֶמֱא'
 has been all but dismissed).
One man asked me - After I aroused many other people to the
 enormity of this sin, as Chazal have said (Geamara Arachin 15b) .
that their sin is amplified until it reaches the Heavens, I know
that I too am guilty of violating this sin many hundreds of times
 and I have no recollection at all (of the people I defamed and)
how to mollify and appease these people. And by the example
 I set, because I am an observant Jew, many people learned not
 to be careful regarding this matter. What should I do (by way of .
 atonement) to regain Hashem’s grace.
The answer to this question is as follows: The teaching of
 Chazal is well known Midrash Tanchumah, Beh’shalach), that
 the method by which Tzadikim committed a sin should be the ,'ַעוֹמָשׁ םִא הָיָהְו' רַמָאֶשׁ וֹז ָּכ הָל ָּבקַ יִכְו .
method by which they create a remedy and regain Hashem’s
 grace. And so one should see to it to teach this subject in public
 (i.e., to learn the laws of esurei Lashon Hara and the laws of
esurei Rechilut in the framework of a learning group that meets
 regularly) in a rigorous way using the sefarim of our Authorities .
