word back to David (ibid., 19:15) – “Return (back home), you
and all of your servants.” Now, this question posed by David .]
is relevant to all of us. It is commonly known that HaKadosh
Baruch Hu promised (Gemara Taanit 5a) that He will not enter
into the Beit HaMikdash On High until Israel builds the Beit

don’t correct our actions, the rebuilding of the Beit HaMikdash
cannot be accomplished and necessarily HaKadosh Baruch Hu ,םוֹי לָכ ְּב םִי ַּתְשׁ איִה אלֲֹה לָבֲא ,הרֶקְִמ ְּב קרַ וֹזַּה הָעוּרְּגַה
will not be able to enter the Beit HaMikdash On High. If so, this
important question reflects back on us, why should we be the last

to His home. Ultimately, even against our will this matter will
be resolved (and the Beit HaMikdash will be rebuilt), but why .
should we be the last ones (to bring about this outcome). For
each day that we are delinquent, the question falls to us.
49. As David returned back to Yerushalayim as king of Israel following the end
of the civil war fomented by his son Avshalom.
