E. ARCHITECTURAL STYLE and CHARACTER

A Contextualism approach is very important as it helps reflect the ISU’s identity, mission-vision and goals on the whole development.

The design of new buildings and additions shall be compatible and harmonious in design, orientation and scale of adjacent buildings. Its roofs, large windows, sun-
shading devices and color scheme are also easily compatible with green strategies.

                                                                                      Contextualized Building Design Pegs

        F. COMMUNITY SPACES

Community or common spaces within the campus have the potential to weave together the formal learning spaces with the
support elements of the campus. These are identified as the exterior spaces (including streets, walkways, greens,
courtyards, plazas, gardens, movable structures for student centers and playing fields) and interior spaces (lobbies,

and internal connectors like corridors). Student Centers should not be simply sheds, located at any available open space.

A community space that can be developed to enhance the campus ambiance/environment is the main university
avenue. Past the campus’ main entry (gateway) is a stretch of road that leads to the Main Administration Building and Communal spaces

connects to the university loop. While it is primarily for vehicular movement, it can also be designed to make it livelier and enjoyable for walking, cycling, and socialization.
This can be done by providing wider sidewalks and bicycle lanes, lining them with trees and covered walkways and installing street furniture like benches and street
        lights.
