Thanks to all for electing me your District Governor for this Lion’s Year. It is an honor to be on the front page! The Lions International Convention was a
great experience and I was honored to be among the 742 District Governor Elects in attendance. We were sworn in by International President Gudrun at the final Plenary Session on July 3rd. As you have heard she will be in Kerrville this weekend to visit with the Lions of Texas. I am also honored to be serving as the MD2 Council Treasurer this year with PDG John Landrum as Council Chair. Congratulations also to PCC John Eads for taking over as Texas Lions Camp President on August 4th.
My thanks to the Grenville Lions for hosting my first DG visit in July. It is a great group of Lions. I am starting to schedule more visits so contact me to get your club on the calendar. The district membership is not growing! We are at a zero net growth as of this writing. Retention is the key; you have paid for the members through December so work on them to stay active. Us the exit questionnaire to find out why they are leaving, the GMT team is also contacting many of them. Schedule a membership open House for Membership Month in October! Again the GMT stands ready to assist, as IPDG Henry says in his article.
Some have had issues with my email address and I am addressing them with Spectrum. It is correct in the directory (but the phone number should be 979-). Keep trying to reach me.
My District Goals for this year are simple and straight forward. Increased membership means more service to our communities. Participation as a 100% club assists our charities in continuing to do the good works they do. The recognition for club and their officers are meant as guideline for proper management of your club and all should qualify. It just takes some effort to do the paperwork. It is not too late to submit your Club Excellence Application to IPDG Henry for the 2017-18 year. (Continued Page 5)
