Hope all had a Merry Christmas and a safe New Year. Now for the playoffs
for the Cowboys. Those wins and the fact that your district has a plus in membership for the year and good signs! However the state of Texas is down 161 in membership as of the 30th. I do have some New Member kits available if you need them.
I enjoyed a visit to the Plano Early Lions last month. While December is a slow month, I note the 10 clubs have not reported any activities for the year and most had none for December. When can I visit your club?
Plan on attending the Mid-Winter Conference in Duncanville on January 12th. See the agenda in this issue of the Link and plan on which breakout you will attend. Lion Fred Conger will be in the conference room for all those that do not attend another session. PCC TJ Tijerina will be our featured speaker. I know the Duncanville Lions will host a good meeting.
The first weekend in March is the Texas Lions Forum, as Lion Fred says in his article. Register now and join me there. It will be my 10th or 11th one and I learn something each year.
It is time to be thinking about recognition for your members. Certificates and kind words are always appreciated. Most of our Charities also have recognition for a deserving member starting at $100 for a Life Membership. $250 or $500 will give them a nice plaque at your end of year event. You can recognize your eyeglass Lion with an award through TLERC. The State Museum is also getting underway and needs funds to display all the memorabilia. The Century Club, the Lions Camp and the Knights of the Blind at TKERC are ways to start a $10 per month donation.
Many clubs have not recruited a member this year. It is time to do it! We want to see each club add at least one member this Lions Year. I will be giving out anniversary recognition chevrons at Mid-Winter.
