What is Infusion Therapy?
• The administration of medication or nutrition
through a needle or catheter
• It can be administered peripherally(PIV) or
centrally(CVAD)
• It is prescribed when a patient's condition is so
severe that it cannot be treated effectively by
oral medications
• This is maintained by the Infusion nurse and the
patient or caregiver
