The Most Common Venous Access Device
                                  Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC)

                                 • An infusion referral where the patient’s VAD is a PICC line is the most
                                    common type received at VNSNY

                                 • Some considerations:
                                     - Do not confuse a referral requesting a PICC line maintenance with
                                       an infusion referral
                                     - PICC lines/VAD maintenance must only be referred to the CHHA
                                     - CHHA RN to provide nursing for line maintenance
                                     - Ensure that a signed script is obtained
                                     - An x‐ray report detailing the tip location is also needed
                                     - HCC will order through OPS.
                                     - Only Medicare and Medicaid are accepted for PICC maintenance
