4.2. Every employee is expected to strictly observe his/her official working
time. The employee’s attendance record and punctuality in daily report for
work will be substantially considered in rating his efficiency or performance
on the job. In all cases, promptness will be considered a plus factor in an
employee’s merit rating, while frequent absences or tardiness will be treat-
ed as a serious negative factor.
4.3. Absences. It shall mean “failure to report for work.” For purposes of this
policy, it shall be classified as:
a. Authorized Absence – Any absences, which are approved by the
immediate supervisor.
b. Unauthorized Absence – Any absences which are not approved
by the immediate supervisor due to the following:
i. No justifiable reason is presented
ii. Call-in Procedure was not followed
iii. Required proper documentation is not presented
iv. No advance notification was provided
v. No leave credits available, unless otherwise authorized by the su-
pervisor
vi. No authorization provided by supervisor due to business needs.
Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) – Refers to absence for
more than one (1) day without proper notification and shall be subject to
proper disciplinary action.
