Communicate in the workplace
e) Stationary items
Stationary items are the basic communication equipment that each organisation
must have. Stationary items such as pens, pencils and other general stationery items
are required to write notes, messages, complete forms and sign letters or other
documents.
f) Internet
Internet is the most common used tool to gather information and order goods such
as groceries, books, clothes, gifts, furniture, hardware etc. Businesses use websites as
online shop fronts for customers to communicate products and services on offer,
upcoming events, prices, competitions, testimonials, troubleshooting, delivery
information, policies, contact information, location etc.
The website must be based on the brand and must be easy to navigate. Consumers
generally decide whether to browse or click out of the site based on the look and
ease of operation.
g) Email
Electronic mail in short is Email. Email is the exchange of messages between people
using electronic devices. Email is the most easy and economical way of
communication. It can be used to send messages, files, web links, videos and
meeting invitations instantly to one or more contacts around the globe. Email will
save time and money to the organisation.
h) Mobile phone
Everyone in the organisation has a mobile phone. A person can be contacted within
the organisation, at the neighboring office, at client’s site or at any place. A person
having a phone with network connection can do business 24/7 from any place.
When a person is unable to take a call, voicemail can be recorded and the
message will be saved. The customer can check the message and can proceed
accordingly.
Text messaging is also a method of mobile communication. It is used to send work-
related messages, invitations, confirmations, special offers or reminders to customers.
