information and knowledge.
Intensive reading includes very close accurate reading to get the details. Example:
book report, insurance claim, a contract etc.
Extensive reading
Extensive reading is used to obtain a general understanding of the subject. It
includes reading longer texts for pleasure. Examples: Marketing strategy books,
novel, magazine articles etc.
d) Writing skills
Writing is intimidating to many people especially those who don’t write on a regular
basis. Effective writing needs careful selection of words that will send an accurate
message.
Writing can be used to reach many individuals at single time. It is the best way to
convey the technical information as it is precise and explicit. Written communication
is also used as a trail for future reference.
Correct grammar, spelling and punctuation are the key for writing. All written
communications must be checked prior to print or send. Always write in plain English
at the organisational level.
