Operational procedures

If the runway is uniformly covered, a single number may be provided for the

entire runway. If there are 3 numbers, they refer to the runway with the lowest

number, and the numbers refer to the thirds of that runway.

For example, if it were EKHG, it would be lane 09, the first digit would be the

first third of lane 09, the next digit the middle third, the last digit would be the
                last third of lane 09.

                6.10.2.3 ATC

ATC will provide clear information about the runway condition.

                6.10.2.4 Other aircraft / pilots

Pilots may experience conditions that differ from the reported conditions.

If a pilot encounters conditions that could be dangerous to other aircraft, they

must report this in the form of an AIREP — a report of conditions that may pose

                a risk to other aircraft.

                6.10.3 Aquaplaning

You may be familiar with this phenomenon from driving. It happens when you

suddenly lose traction when driving on a road covered with a layer of water.

This phenomenon can also occur when moving on a runway in an aircraft.

When landing on a wet grass runway, it can be difficult to see moist and soft

areas. You lose braking ability and can easily skid sideways, losing control of the

                aircraft.
